Role overview
Beacon Power Services is seeking a strategic and systems-focused Senior Manager – Product Design to lead and scale design capabilities across the organization’s product portfolio. This role is responsible for defining the long-term design vision across the company’s software platforms.
The position will guide the development of the company’s design language, user experience strategy, and research practices to ensure products meet global software design standards while supporting mission-critical infrastructure environments.
The successful candidate will establish user-centered design principles, strengthen visual and interaction quality, and build scalable design systems that deliver usability, clarity, and consistency across complex and data-driven product ecosystems.

Key responsibilities
Design vision and strategy

Define and communicate a long-term product design strategy aligned with company objectives.

Integrate design thinking into strategic planning and product roadmap development.

Advocate for user-centered decision-making at the leadership level.
Enterprise UX and systems design
-
Lead the design of complex and data-intensive systems.

Convert highly technical workflows into intuitive, scalable, and efficient user experiences.

Establish and enforce standards for accessibility, usability, and inclusive design.

Develop and evolve an enterprise-grade design system to ensure consistency across products and interfaces.

Define governance frameworks, documentation practices, and reusable component standards.

Work closely with engineering teams to ensure high fidelity between design concepts and implemented code.
Research, metrics and cross-functional collaboration

Establish structured UX research practices including usability testing, field studies, and behavioral analytics.

Define measurable UX performance indicators and track design impact.

Drive data-informed iteration and continuous improvement of product experiences.

Create feedback loops between Product Management, Engineering, and Commercial teams.

Ensure design decisions balance user value, business priorities, and operational realities.
Managerial responsibilities

Define and manage the annual operating plan for the function, including workforce and financial planning.

Oversee and optimize departmental budgets.

Make strategic decisions regarding resource allocation.

Build, structure, and scale teams to support long-term design capability development.

Establish performance management frameworks, succession planning, and leadership development programs.

Ensure governance, risk management, and operational maturity across the function.

Develop standardized and scalable systems that enable consistent execution across regions.
What we’re looking for
Professional and technical strengths

Experience in product design within SaaS, enterprise software, or complex technology environments.

Demonstrated experience building and scaling enterprise-grade design systems across multiple products.

Strong portfolio reflecting systems thinking, large-scale platform design, and complex workflow architecture.

Experience designing data-intensive dashboards, operational tools, or mission-critical enterprise platforms.

Deep expertise in UX research methodologies and the ability to institutionalize research practices across teams.

Proven ability to link design strategy to measurable business outcomes such as adoption, retention, and revenue growth.
