Role overview
Beacon Power Services is seeking a market-facing and technically credible Senior Manager – Tech Sales who combines strong business acumen with deep technical expertise. This position extends beyond traditional sales responsibilities, positioning you as a trusted advisor to clients while presenting BPS solutions with authority, credibility, and clarity.
Acting as a bridge between Technology, Operations, and Commercial teams, you will lead technical demonstrations, support early-stage commercial engagements, and guide clients through complex decision-making processes. You will address technical questions throughout the sales cycle, clearly articulate product innovations, and ensure that BPS is positioned as a reliable and expert partner in the African energy sector.
Your ability to translate sophisticated technical capabilities into clear business value will be essential for building client trust, accelerating deal closure, and strengthening BPS’s market position.
Key responsibilities
Commercial qualification and solution engagement

Participate in qualified opportunities alongside the Business Development and Growth team, taking ownership of the technical-commercial discussion.

Lead structured account deep-dives to understand the operational, technical, and strategic needs of clients.

Support opportunity qualification by evaluating solution fit, complexity, and deployment requirements.

Contribute to account penetration strategies through structured solution mapping and value articulation.
Solution leadership and deal structuring

Co-lead the sales cycle from discovery through contract signature, maintaining primary responsibility for the solution narrative.

Deliver impactful product demonstrations and technical presentations tailored to both business and technical stakeholders.

Translate client challenges into structured solution proposals, RFP responses, and commercial offers.

Design scalable and practical solutions aligned with product capabilities and operational constraints.

Support contract negotiations by providing technical clarification and validating scope.
Strategic client advisory

Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, bringing credibility and structured insight to engagements.

Anticipate technical objections and guide clients through proofs of concept (POCs) and early deployments.

Collaborate closely with Product Management and Product Operations teams to ensure technical feasibility and smooth implementation.

Identify expansion opportunities based on product adoption, performance insights, and evolving client requirements.

Strengthen BPS’s market reputation by ensuring every client interaction reflects expertise, rigor, and reliability.
Market intelligence and strategy

Monitor competitive dynamics and market trends within the African power sector.

Provide feedback to Product Management regarding client requirements and potential feature enhancements.

Represent Beacon Power Services at conferences, industry forums, and trade exhibitions.
Managerial responsibilities

Define and own the annual operating plan for the function, including workforce and financial planning.

Manage and optimize departmental budgets while ensuring effective resource allocation.

Build, scale, and structure teams to support long-term operational growth.

Professional and technical strengths

B2B experience in enterprise technology or software sales, with strong exposure to solution-driven or technical sales environments.

Proven track record of achieving revenue targets within complex sales cycles.

Experience engaging with utilities, government institutions, or large enterprise clients across African markets.

Recruitment process

Step 2 – Behavioral and cognitive assessments

Step 3 – Technical assessments
Candidates progressing to this stage will complete technical evaluations designed to assess problem-solving ability and role-specific expertise.
Step 4 – HR and culture fit interview
A meeting with the Talent Acquisition team to discuss professional background, motivations, and potential fit within the organization.
Step 5 – Technical excellence interview
The final stage involves an interview with the hiring team to assess technical expertise, role expectations, and mutual alignment.
