About the Role

Beacon Power Services is seeking a strategic and outcome-driven Senior Manager to own and scale the product strategy for our software portfolio. In this role, you will be responsible for defining the long-term product vision, ensuring product-market fit, and delivering measurable commercial and operational impact. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Commercial, Strategy, and Operations, to execute on a robust product strategy that positions us as a leader in Africa’s energy transformation.

This role is not just about backlog execution — it’s about shaping the product, driving innovation, and translating market intelligence, customer insights, and business objectives into a comprehensive product strategy and roadmap.

Job Title: Senior Manager – Product Design

Location: Lagos
Department: TEC – Technology
Reports to: Director – Product Management
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (2 days in the office, 3 days remote)

What You’ll Do

Product Strategy & Portfolio Leadership

• Define and own the product vision, strategic direction, and portfolio roadmap aligned with company growth objectives.

• Drive product-market fit through extensive market research, customer engagement, and competitive analysis.

• Prioritize high-impact decisions balancing customer value, commercial returns, scalability, and technical feasibility.

• Ensure product strategy is aligned with revenue targets and operational capabilities.

Product Delivery & Cross-Functional Leadership

• Lead collaboration across Engineering, Commercial, and Operations to deliver scalable and high-quality releases.

• Oversee backlog governance, release planning, and execution, ensuring a disciplined approach to delivery without focusing solely on tasks.

• Ensure that product documentation, requirements, and specifications meet enterprise-grade standards.

• Maintain accountability for delivery timelines, product quality, and measurable business outcomes.

Commercial Enablement & Market Positioning

• Partner with Commercial teams to refine product positioning, value propositions, and go-to-market strategies.

• Support strategic client engagements and participate in executive presentations and complex solution discussions.

• Ensure product innovations are clearly communicated and translated into tangible customer impact.

Data, Performance & Continuous Improvement

• Define and own product KPIs, OKRs, and value-realization metrics.

• Utilize usage data, financial indicators, and customer feedback to guide product decisions and strategic trade-offs.

• Lead structured post-launch evaluations and continuously optimize the product portfolio.

Managerial Responsibilities

• Define and own the annual operating plan for the function, including workforce and financial planning.

• Manage and optimize departmental budgets and make strategic resource allocation decisions.

• Build, scale, and structure teams to support long-term capability development.

• Establish performance frameworks, succession planning, and leadership development pathways.

• Ensure governance, risk management, and operational maturity across the function.

• Create standardized systems to enable consistent execution across regions.

What We’re Looking For

Professional & Technical Strength

• Product management experience in SaaS, enterprise software, or complex technology environments, with portfolio-level ownership.

• Proven track record of defining product strategy and building multi-quarter roadmaps aligned with growth and commercial objectives.

• Strong command of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) with the ability to drive execution across teams.

• Expertise in translating business and market needs into structured strategic requirements and prioritized backlogs.

• Data-driven decision-maker with the ability to define KPIs and use analytics to guide strategic choices.

• Technical fluency to engage with Engineering leadership and influence architectural decisions.

Leadership & Interpersonal Strengths

Nice to Have

• Experience in the energy, utilities, infrastructure, or cleantech sectors.

• Exposure to grid management systems, SCADA, or enterprise utility software.

• Fluency in French is a plus.
